More students opt for private institutions

Woah…I read that nowadays more students joining private institutions. This is a good news as well for the education system. Whenever there is rival, the competitions will be there. Healthy competitions between G-institutions and private institution will sure benefits the students. I guess students nowadays are lucky. Pressure from the successful results and achievements from students at private institution will buck-up the rest of the dormant institution. Now, it’s the time for future higher institution students to get to know the best for them. They can choose now.

Traditionally, people will opt for local G-institution is due to the financial matter and also is the lack of approved and recognized private institution by LAN. Previously, the G-hardly can approved any program or subjects taught by private institution. Today, more and more programs offered by private institution are approved and even gain the recognition from other country as well. This caused the G-institution evolved drastically by making English as the medium for mostly all of their higher institution, except for one whereby the institution still enforcing the Bahasa Malaysia as their medium in teaching as well as writing.

I could not really said that the standard of the G-institution is higher due to the usage of English. Instead, one of the local higher institution dropped from the list in the top 200 world ranking higher institution. What a shame. But some are debating that the ranking is not based on education syllabus alone, they are taking in the number of enrolled students, and the number of international programs offered, the total number of students, as well as the library facilities and etc. This brought out the awareness among Malaysians that our G-institutions are incompetent. We are afraid that in the near future, we can’t even compete with those institution from other developed country as well as developing country.

As currently I am working in a private institution, I slowly developed the sense of knowing the reasons and rationals for choosing a private institution, especially an establish private institution from their original country. This is really an advantage for the students, as well as they are being exposed to more in the education field, be it a scientific research or a business study. The system do impress me as they can produce well-prepared workforce as well as to build-up professionals in the selected fields. I couldn’t help but to agree that the emerging of private institution in Malaysia isn’t really money-minded, but to enhance the knowledge for students and as a choice to select the best. Well, there will still have some black-sheep among those private institutions that ruin the reputation of private institutions.

With the ratio almost 1:1 of enrollment of students in both G-institution and private institution will produce pressure among institution of be at their best. I am hoping to see how well can this goes, and at least, producing some competent graduate will not only helps to develop the country better, but also to share to the rest of the world that Malaysian graduates are worth it!

  1. G-institution… sounds like some 007 secret agency…… Well, i was one of them who opted for the P-institutions… did my A lvls then to whr u’re working now..

I agree with the competition, hopefully both G and P institutions will keep improving their quality. However, the G gangs are quite oblivious to the external forces applied on them, probably because of the protection and status they get from the big brother G and of course, the people who love G. It seems like even with competition, the G-institutions are still degenerating while the P gangs are constantly upgrading themselves.

I loathed the fees charged by the P-institutions… but then again i never regretted going there.. because i know i was given the opportunity to be where i am now… and also look at Val, and tim and everyone else.. so i agree that the money-making P gangs are also doing good for the society..

Again, i guess the “survival of the fittest” idea hasn’t hit the G-institutions yet… what competition? we’re still the best!

    …when will they wake up?

  4. hahahhahah mougandou!!! now the whole thing sounds like some conspiracy… iiiinnteeereeesting..

well i guess u’re looking at the matter objectively.. regardless of which gang ure from, and not being loyal to one gang blindly… i have frens who completely detest the G-institutions.. and the other way round too.. like u know. they view the ppl from P institutions as sub-par quality and can study only cos have the money…

to me.. i think we need more quality G institutions.. its one of the identity of our country… but we cant deny the contributions of the P institutions as well…

G institutions are still sleeping like ’someone’. Not totally aware of the changes in the surrounding. Sooner of later they’ll act to bring more results, but only to realize it’s slightly too late.

  6. Jing:
Yeah…we cannot view P-gang as just their quality is based on money. As far as I can see, only some minority falls onto the black-sheep category. So, the point that p-gang has the quality and now the quantity! lol
G-institution really need to be given a lesson, then only they will polish their system. You know, those G still having those red tape…Sien.

    Val:
Yeah…the G is ‘g’. still dreaming in their comfort zone. hopefully changes will be made accordingly to improve their quality.

  7. yeah…. lets just hope… who knows one day we’ll all end up in the same faculty in UM.. when UM finally become world class….

  8. Muahaha…yeah..who knows….Now I am in the negotiation to do so… If I can successfully make in…the I m with the G again… LOL
